Dr. Neil Kerwin Joins Lumerit Board of Directors
President Emeritus, American University
San Antonio, TX - Lumerit Education announced the addition of Dr. Cornelius (Neil) M. Kerwin as a member of the board of directors. Kerwin became American University’s 14th president in July 2007 after more than a decade of leadership that transformed the institution in academic quality, campus facilities, and national standing.
A nationally recognized specialist in public policy and the regulatory process, Kerwin is actively engaged in research and periodically teaches courses in administrative process, policy implementation, and American government. “I am very pleased to be part of the Lumerit Education team”, said Kerwin. “I have been very impressed with the thoughtfulness regarding Lumerit’s approach to addressing the future challenges of higher education especially adult learners and their time to degree completion.”
Kerwin joined AU in 1975 and holds a faculty appointment in the School of Public Affairs, Department of Public Administration. He was dean of the School of Public Affairs from 1988 to 1997; provost from 1997 to 2005; and acting—then interim—president of American University from 2005 to 2007. Kerwin was a member of the boards for the American Council on Education (ACE) and the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU). He is also a Senior Fellow at AGB Institutional Strategies.
“Lumerit is addressing important national higher education issues. As an education technology and primary content provider, we are grateful for the opportunity to have Dr. Kerwin join the board of directors and have access to his vast expertise in academics and public policy,” said Rick Beyer, Lumerit’s CEO.
